The Kongo Jungle is a vast jungle found on Donkey Kong Island, at the foot of Monkey Mines. First appearing in Donkey Kong Country, Kongo Jungle is the place where DK's Tree House and the Banana Hoard is found; a distinction shared with the similar Jungle world in Donkey Kong Country Returns, which has been suggested to be the same location. It is named from both "Kong" and the Congo Basin, a section of Africa which covers territory in nine different countries (most notably the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo) and is known for its dense rainforests, including natural ranges of wild gorillas.
